So I have a coop here’s a picture of the outside. I need some feedback on how to make my chickens feel safe and cozy in it and happy. I use like a foam box and plastic wrapped around it and put hay on it for the nest. I have 3 hens and 2 nests but only 2 is laying. The bedding is newspaper under with hay on the top. Planning to add a small amount roosting bar inside. I also have a small run where I put the food (planning to see where to get chicken feed but for now we have some food I made) and a bowl of water. but the chickens aren’t locked inside because I let them free range the whole day. I have a small heater but it only makes you warm when you go near it and some ventilation holes. I have roosting bars in the run. The floor of the run is quite wet though and it’s also rocks and hay under. I clean the bedding every week and add more food if it gone. I change the water every day and close the coop when they all go inside at night. I also love to cuddle my chickens when I’m outside and sometimes give them mealworms. Since it’s winter I’m not sure where they will take bath so I just dug some snow out leaving dirt mixed with a bit snow. I also add DE into their food as well. Is this how you care for chickens? I need some feedback.
