DBF and I lugged the coop around the corner into the side yard. We placed it and the girls are snugly in their coop in its final place. There's still some work to be done - as if it's ever done! - and then I'll post pics.

My biggest fear is the neighbor's dog, a wolf-malamute hybrid. The dog, while in its own yard, keeps lunging for the chickens. I'm afraid and have already had several conversations with the owner. She's being really good about the situation and keepig a close eye on her "dog". I told her that as long as the dog stays on her side, and my chickens stay on mine, we're all doing our jobs as pet owners.

She's going to put up a bamboo screen along the property line so that the dog can't see the chickens.

I plan to post pics tomorrow after I finish painting the chicks' house!

We (rather, DBF) custom-built the coop for a narrow side yard that's roughly 6' wide. The coop is about 30" wide by 7' long. He did a nice job and I'm really proud of him.

Can't wait to show pics!!

Maybe you should put up some plywood or something along your fence (in the run) to make sure the dog doesn't break through when you're not home. If I remember correctly, there's space between the fence boards, i wouldn't want to see the big-bad wolf find himself motivated to work at busting through and getting a nice, fresh chicken dinner!

(Although, I must say, you do raise some fine looking chickens!)
