Coop Floor?

If it was my coop I would put a wooden floor in the coop part and put weldmesh/hardware cloth below that. For the run area aarts link is a good example of what I would consider.

Easy enough to do. I have a bunch of pressure treated 2x12's at the house from another project. A couple cuts and I can frame in a floor for the coop section.

Keep in mind what might get under the floor.
A floor close to the ground, that not protected with an apron, can harbor rodents and other preds.

Cleaning would be easier if you could use a sheet material.:)
I might use vinyl sheet on the floor & part way up the walls, so I could hose it out once in a while. A bead of silicone caulking in the corners would keep water from rotting the wood. Building a pitch into the floor wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

Vinyl sheet over boards could work....I wouldn't count on silicone staying put, and you wouldn't want the birds to eat it...no reason to 'hose out' a coop, just asking for molding issues. Keep it dry!

We have just 3/4 plywood. Didn't paint. We do have poop boards. So most droppings do not hit the floor. Covered with pine shavings. Replaced it twice in a year. Floor is dry as can be.

I have read some on deep litter, and that's kind of where I was going with my question.
My initial thoughts was to lay cinder blocks along the foundation to raise the coop about 8" and then do deep litter in the entire run and coop.

Cinder block would work to raise it, but how would you keep them from moving? You could attach the apron wire to the base of the coop/run and bring it down to the ground, then out 18 inches.
I was thinking make a frame out of 6 x 6 pressure treated posts, to set the whole thing on. Dig out 6 inches deep(make a trench) put stone down so the 6 x 6's sit on top of that, so the wood is not directly on the ground and water will drain through the stone. Attach the apron wire to the coop/run base down to the ground and out 18 inches. Fill the coop/run with deep litter material. No need for a floor.
