Coop floor

Nice set up! My coop is over 15 yrs old and it is slowly sinking, water every where when it was never there before. Was thinking of just doing a new one and husband thinks 40”x8’. I think it is way to small for 10-12 birds. My coop now is about 12’x14’. But I do love how you make use under the roosts

The floor in my coop (previously a shed) is also untreated plywood. I just scrubbed it clean, rinsed it, toweled it dry then let it completely air dry and put two coats of Behr Porch and Floor paint on it. It's holding up great.
The only waterer in the coop is a bucket with 5 horizontal nipples on it so I don't have a lot of potential for moisture. And I use poop boards so not a lot of poop on the coop floor bedding either. I only clean the bedding out annually.
Hi, question about the bedding. I am building my coop on plywood flooring. Do you just keep adding the bedding and turning it ... do you use the deep litter method?

No, I don't. I use poop boards. I only clean the coop floor bedding out annually.

Because the poop boards do not allow the poop to hit the coop floor and my run is as predator proof as the coop so it is basically an outdoor extension of the coop that the birds go to when they come off the roost, very little poop accumulates on my coop floor.

The run has a thick layer of wood chips. I will add more wood chips when needed to the run.
