coop floor

Hey, Lauralou!
I thought of you the whole time I was putting it together!

The roof was actually the easiest part. The boards were cut like wedges with a notch on the bottom of the fat side. They just fit neatly up under each other. I was able to do the highest part from inside the coop and could reach the bottom few from the ground. I'm dying to paint it now, but the high today is 56 with a high tomorrow of 32! Yikes!!! So no painting until spring, I guess!

I ended up putting it under the tree next to the house. I decided the front was just too hot in the summer. I can see it from both the kitchen and dining room windows so I'll get to keep an eye on things all the time. I'm hoping it's close enough to the house and the backyard (dogs) that it will make predators a little hesitant to come up. Fingers crossed anyway.

I went to that lady's website, but never could get an email to go through. I never could get one to go through on the brother's site either.

I did find a lady in KY that has buff orpingtons and ameraucanas that she will hatch out in spring. We may try to hook up so I can get some chickies! I can't wait!!! If all else fails though, there's always mypetchicken.com!

I'm jealous that you got TWO coops! Now that I've got this one together I want a whole complex of them.

I'm quickly getting addicted and I don't even have the chickens yet. I've been reading all the talk of incubators and I'm thinking I WANT ONE!!

Stay warm up there!!
