coop floor

I wouldn't recommend the use of sawdust for your floor bedding. Why? Because it will hold moisture and pack down...eventually you will have a wet/moldy mess which is very unhealthy for your girls. I use pine wood shavings.

I don't actually have a coop yet, but I thought I'd chime in - I've heard quite a few people like to use dry leaves inside the coop and run, which also makes for excellent compost when you clean it out.

I am using construction sand for our coop, run etc.
I like being able to use a cat scoop to sift the bird droppings.

Me too, I love the sand, easy care and my chickens love exploring any new sand added.
