Hi, my coop opens to the grass and with the recent rain and random thunderstorms here in NC, the floor is a mush mess. What is the best way to clean it? I have hay around and pine shavings. Should I put the hay or pine shavings in there and let it soak up a bit and rake it out or just leave it be. Any input would be much appreciated! Thanks

snow shovel and nose plug. it comes up easier for me when its wet but boy does it stink ! PZD in the horse section at feed store like TSC works pretty good on the stink. aaaa, i was assuming yours was a wooden floor, sorry . if it is bare floor you could look into the deep litter method. but still the PZD.

I just ran across this page .. maybe there's some info in there you can use:

We're in NC too and we have a bunch of moss taking over our yard. Lots of it, like more than enough to cover the floor of the run. I cut it into strips with a shovel, rolled it up, and then rolled it back out in the pen. So far, it's working great. Especially since my little jerk doesn't eat it.

I wrote a bit more about it in my thread, maybe it'll help.
