Hello!
I am new to raising chickens and have built a moveable coop (tractor coop) for my upcoming hens (now living in a brooder in the basement). It's about 24 square feet, rasised off the ground. I have perch areas with screen/wire underneath to let the droppings fall out of the coop onto the grass outside, and nesting boxes with pine shavings. My question is: do I cover the rest of the wood flooring with something (pine shavings? straw?) or can I let it remain bare wood?
Also, I will be closing the hens in the coop at night, do I need to bring their food and water in the coop with them?
Thanks!

You could go with either flooring and it could work. I would go with wood as it is easier on the feet. If you go with wood I would cover in some bedding for easier cleaning. They don't generally get up at night, so food and water isn't necessary at night.
