I keep my roosters and hens separated between two seperate pens. I have four different breeds. I just paired them up last week. Three of the four hens are nesting, they share the same coop(4'×8') the run is a ten by ten if that matters. My question is, Is it fine to have several hens nesting in one coop?

Do I understand correctly that you have 4 pullets/hens in a 4X8 coop with the 10X10 run? And the cockerels/roosters have a similar set up? How many roosters?

The pullets/hens (you didn't mention their age) will be fine based on those dimensions, and they often lay in the same nesting box, let alone coop, so no worries there.

Or, do you mean 3 of your 4 hens are sitting on eggs with the intention of hatching?

Sorry about that... yes I have two coops similar in setup. I seperate the four breeds for about three days to mate. Then I put the hens back in their coop/run. I'm trying to expand my flock. And all the knowledge I'm getting is from online or books. But everything sounds like the hens are separated from one another when they start brooding. I have three outta the five hens brooding now in the coop. All of them have their own nest box they are laying on full with a clutch of eggs. My question is can I leave my nesting hens together in the coop or do I need to seperate them. I also notice one of my hens (Rhode Island white) has stole some other eggs. Will she still hatch them after her own eggs have hatched. I'm guessing the eggs she stole are about 4 days behind the others.

Oh okay. I was a long way off on this one. You know, I don't know. I've never had more than one hen be broody at one time. I'm sure it's fine while they are brooding, and just don't know how they will be when they are hatched.

Then hen that stole the eggs will probably hatch them out, but I have heard stories off hens that get interested in their new babies and leave the nest early. I would just be prepared for that. Have an incubator on hand. If in the last few days you have to hatch a couple chicks out for her, it might be possible to slip them under her when they can come out of the incubator. Some people on here have had success with that.
