How high should a coop be off the groung? I see some that 3ft. why?

I have mine about two feet off the ground for two reasons. First, since mine is made of wood I didn't want the wood sitting on the ground and second, it makes a nice shady area for them to get out of the heat of the day in the summer.

The 3 foot height makes it easier to clean as you won't have as much bending to do and you can easily put a wheel barrow or garden cart underneath so that you can just rake the soiled litter right in. The 3 foot height is for the small coops of course, not the large wall in variety.

It also prevents critters (rats, skunks, etc.) from hiding or nesting under there.
