We have done ringneck pheasants for the last 3 years, we have a large outside pen that after a month they are transfered into from the inside coop... the inside coop and outside coop are connected so they are able to go in from the elements since the outside coop is very open.

Anyways, we would like to use our inside coop for our pigs/piglets this spring, what types of "nesting boxes" or things we could do to the outside coop so they are able to get out of the rain/sun/frost.

We raise about 50 and release half to the wild and the rest our meat birds. So it has to be easy to build, and make enough for 50 pheasants......

Any ideas? Or what do you use would be great!!!

Our ringnecks just make an impression and lay on the ground. Don't seem to like nesting boxes.

We have a truck camper shell as one thing for shelter in our pen. Looks kinda red-necked but it was free (poor people have poor ways!) I know they can often be picked up at salvage yards cheaply.

Thanks!... our first year the coops weren't connected and the birds we release we keep a bit longer to make sure they are old enough to stay a live on there own... we had some bad weather, dropped to freezing and we only had a small area of shelter at the time in the outside coop, well sadly we lost 7 birds that night! It was terrible!

Guess you learn from your mistakes!

Do they seem to use the shelter a lot????
