I am so excited! We had a typical ladder style roost and recently changed it to roosts all the same height with a board underneath.
So much easier to clean and frees up all the floor space when my freerangers cant get outside due to weather.

Anyone else make the switch and how did you like it?

We have our roosts all at the same level, save for a lower one to enable the heavier girls to get up there. It seems to work well as there are no pecking order issues among the girls.

Yes, that was a nice side effect. The bickering stopped.

I started with that, and am glad I did......doesn't eliminate the bickering at roost time tho, lol.

True there always seem to be some fussing at bedtime, but after a few minutes they settle down for the night. Everyones gotta find their spot before theres any peace in there.

I was set on using the ladder style roost, but after thinking and re-thinking, I think I'm going to go with the one height after all. Mostly to save floor space and ease of cleaning.

Is a droppings board with a bit of sand and PDZ on vinyl good?

We have 50 birds in 2 coops. I am so happy we changed to this system.
We just use plywood and a flat snow shovel to scrape.
Our actual 2x4 roosts are in joist hangers so.we can pull them out for cleaning time.
