Hi newbie to raising chickens, So I got this little chicken coop and want to put in this area, I thought about filling it in with like 4" of sand and then putting coop on top, do I need to sit coop on something first or is it fine as is? Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated to set up chicken coop area. Tell me your thoughts.

That is a very small coop,, but it is fine if you are just starting out with chickens.
Just leave it placed as is. Some peeps do use sand, and others use Pine shavings. I use hay inside my coop, and grass clippings in run area. There is a section of sand in run area also,
You don't have location in your profile, so No idea of the possible predators you may encounter. Your small prefab coop is probably not very predator proof.
How many chickens are you planning to keep?? All the prefab coop manufacturers overrate their coop capacities.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and :welcome

Thank you for your input, yes it look big at the time but when I put inside the fenced area it was really small. I have 2 chicks that are a month old. So I'm starting with those two. I'm located in Stockton, CA. I'm already wanting an upgrade.

If you read my first sentence of my previous post you do understand,,,, I am not one of the big time critics of prefab coops. Everyone needs to start somewhere, and many peeps loose interest and abandon chicken keeping. Those that do enjoy chickens and the benefits do move on to larger coops. It is like a step program. If things do not work out ,,,,, then the loss is minimal, and no Large Structure standing vacant.
Ask anything else you need more info on.... We as BYC are here to help each-other :thumbsup
