Some people use sealers, paint, tiles, and other various coatings on their floor. If your floor is plywood that can rot then this may be good. Plenty of bedding or sand that is cleaned regularly will keep your floor dry and it will last. Any type of material that is slippery or slick below your bedding is not a good idea in my opinion.
