Our Coop is 99% finished, only a couple of small things to finish before our 5 girls get here next week. Over the past couple of days I put up 2x4 welded wire and buried it about 18 inches deep. I was concerned with the corners of the run because I couldn't get the wire wrapped around them. So today I came up with a good idea, I had a short piece of 8 inch irrigation pipe laying around. I cut the pipe in half then cut in half long ways. Then I dug down the about 18 inches and put the irrigation pipe to protect the corners. I am not sure I explained what I did very good but here is a picture of the two of the corners.

In the next couple of days I need to put the bedding down, get the nesting boxes set up and install the automatic waterer if it ever shows up. I wish I was more excited today about my girls showing up but I have to my dog Cooper to the orthopedic vet Wed. for surgery, he blew out his right rear knee. So I have just a couple of small things to get done.

I wish to thank everyone who has given advice and commented on my coop, Thanks.

Looks like you used the same fencing as we did...2x4 welded wire and then we lined the bottom half with chicken wire so little feet and heads dont peak out. Looks really nice. What is the purpose of the pvc around the base of the corner posts?

Great coop!

Sorry to hear about your dog. My last girl, Spook, blew her crusia(sp) ligament at the age of 8 after years of playing frisbee. She was removing geese from the school ground when it went. My vets did surgery and it was nearly as good as new, though no more frisbee playing. I had her up and walking on it within about 2 days of surgery. Slow and easy, just so it wouldn't tighten up and cause problems down the road in the healing process. Warm weather gives you a great therapy option, Swimming! Spook loved to swim and it was nonweight baring workout. She developed arthritis in her back, feet and hips but none in that knee!

I couldn't wrap the wire into the corner so I put the pvc pipe in the corners about 18 down to protect the corners from anything digging into the run. Nothing is getting through that pipe, it is about 1/4 thick 8 inch pipe.
