Decided to build an all new 8'x4' coop.. she's elevated 2' off the ground stands 7' at it's peak and has plenty of room for my 8 girls.. just looking for some more suggestions.... Are 2x4 okay for my girls to perch on at night? And will two nesting boxes be enough? Still have to replace the roof I just used some old ocb chip board I had going to be replacing it next week and adding some 2x6 for the rafters rather than 2x4... Michigan gets some good snow sometimes but any input is appreciated

The 2x4s are fine with a 4 ft span.
I would install fly rafters on the gable ends to get about a ft of overhang. Then cut out as large as amount of the sheathing as you can from the gable peaks and back then with 1/2" hardware cloth for year round vents.
If you can cover the the soffit area with 1/2" HC that is another great place for ventilation.
Are you planning on cutting out some window openings?
