Coop is Finished!

Our coop is finally finished. On the day the last screw was put in, I sent my permit application to the city. Last night (a Sunday) at 10 pm the doorbell rang, and there was the animal control officer here to inspect the coop!! Must have been a slow and boring night. He was impressed with the coop and took photos with his cell phone to show his boss. It made dh happy since the whole thing was his design. Now we're legal

The access from the coop to the run is directly at the end of the ladder. It's open on that end. The coop itself is shut up at night by a board which slides accross the opening - it's in a goove so it can't be pushed up from below. The run is detachable from the coop so we can put the chicks in the grass. The open end is covered with an old screen door piece tied on securely. I'm sure we'll eventually have something better, but for now that will do.
