hello i have one heat lamp in my coop. i was wondering if its bad to have it going 24-7 on there egg laying? also is it better to have feed in front of them all the time or is it better to ratio it out? thankyou

If you chickens are older than 7 weeks, don't bother. Why spend extra money for nothing? If it is winter and you want your hens to lay, 12-14 hours of light total a day is good enough.
 
I provide food all the time. I seriously doubt that they eat at night, but I keep the food in the coop to protect it from the weather.
