COOP LIGHTING

I was wondering if everyone keeps a light on for their chicks?
I have 4 - 9 month old RIR's that have been laying for about 3 weeks and 24 - 5 month old chicks and right now I just have a 60 watt bulb for night time.
Do you leave the lights on all night? Forever?
What about heat lamps in the winter when they are full grown?

Our hen house is part of our old barn. We keep lights on in the back of the barn to discourage 2 legged predators. If the weather gets fierce during winter, we plug in heat lamps over the waterers.

I keep a string of LED holiday lights on in the coop. They are on a timer to go on at dark and stay on for 2 hours. In winter if it gets too cold, i put on a brooder lamp over the water area to keep it from freezing. My birds produced eggs all winter. The lights are just to give them time to settle in.

I do not have a light in my coop, but my coop has a window which gets light from out side, since I live in the city, the street lights of lights from the house next door are always on, so it's never "dark"

in the picture below you can see the window from outside lets the light into the window in the coop...
