Coop location

I'm close to starting to build my coop & run. I have two choices full sun all day or full shade from trees all day.Any suggestions

Half and half, give them access to both, sun and shade

I'd go for the shade. I've read many postings with with chickens being harmed by too much heat. They do like to sun bathe if you can get a little corner or the run that gets direct sunshine). The plus is, if these are deciduous trees, the'll loose their leaves in the fall and the chickens will get to sunbathe in the cooler weather. Plus they'll get to root around in the fallen leaves, which I hear chickens enjoy. (We don't get much in the way of deciduous trees were I live so I can't speak from experience.

ditto on the shade.my coop and run is in the sun.and the coops really heat up in the summer months.tempertures today are suppose to hit 100 plus.i have five fans going trying to keep my birds cool.
