New Chicken Mom.

I have 10 pullets I guess to be 5-6 weeks old. They are fully feathered with head feathers. They have been in their coop since Friday and doing well. (55F) here at night so closed up nice and cozy.

Yesterday I opened the run door and put them out. They stayed out. 3-4 doing in and out. Put them in last night.

This morning I opened the run door and they are showing no inclination to go out. Should I put them out or let them figure it out on their own.

There is food and water both inside and outside.

Thanks!

Day time temps? I forced mine out at 2 weeks but I had them in a chicken run till 8 weeks. Just so their size was big enough that a hawk would carry them away. But if you wanna be less hands on, then just let them figure it out. If you ration food then I would just put the food outside. None inside. Water both inside and out. Then about 2-3 hours before dark when you give second ration put it inside if they are still inside.

It really depends on how you wanna raise them. I told mine they needed to learn to live outdoors so I closed the coop door and gave them access to the chicken run if they needed protection from sky predators, I have a good fenced in yard so no worry’s about land predators since I’m in the suburbs.
