I got the whole shed.I can't wait to get it built and do some interior designing.
I hatched 11 chicks and raised them in my office last March and the thick layer of dust was everywhere. I run Lionel trains around the ceiling and the dust was so thick that the trains stopped running. The dust was all over the tracks, in the locomotive electronics bay, my desktop computer circuit board and cooling fans, inside my vinyl record collection sleeves and stereo. I learned from experience to never set up a brooding box in the house ever again.Make sure hubby is ok with all his stuff being covered by a layer of chicken dust! lol We have a garage that we bought just for my brooders and when he saw how much space was unused, my husband moved some tools in. They're constantly covered with a thick layer of dust. I personally don't care if my extra equipment is dusty but it drives him batty....so I thought I'd mention it.
That's half the fun raising chickens. You get to design coop plans and work with wood and build barns, do electrical work, plumbing and painting and interior decorating. If the chickens move out, you can always use the barns for extra storage if planned right. I made mine with a standard size doorway, so no bending down to enter. Dual purpose your birds and your coops.I got the whole shed.I can't wait to get it built and do some interior designing.
That is a lot of dust! I read about it all the time but don't remember anything like it when we brooded our first lot of 12 back in June of 2012. for over 3 weeks they were in a bathtub that we didn't use in the downstairs bathroom. By then some of them were getting out of the tub but couldn't get back in from the floor. The 2015s and 2017s went out to the barn a couple of days after they arrived. Prior to that they were in a box with a Mama Heating Pad cave in our bedroom.I hatched 11 chicks and raised them in my office last March and the thick layer of dust was everywhere.
