Coop Placement Near Eaves of House

Due to the small size of my yard and the placement of some raised vegetable beds, the best site I can find for my coop will be in a narrow side yard about 7 feet wide. If I use this location I want to use the Garden Ark plans and modify the size to 3' x 8', building 2 coops to house a total of 6 or 7 hens. The access door will have to be modified since the coop will be pushed up against the fence. That still leaves only leaves the coop about 6 inches from the drip line of my house. It's South Texas so I don't expect a lot of rain, but we do get some real gully washers that could pour off the roof. Does anyone see any problem with the coop being this close to the drip line? There are no gutters along that side of the house, but I suppose I could put up some of those chain rain thingies to help deflect the flow a bit.

The side yard is bricked in and I plan on raising the coop up on blocks and putting a deep bed of sand in the bottom.

The other thing I will modify on the Ark plans is to have the roof panels tilted downward on the drip line side so they can shed any water that pours onto the hen house roof.

Thank you for the help and chicken wisdom.

Do you have Pic's of your coop, Does your coop have a roof? If it has a roof the only neg I see is if you have normal shingle you will wear them out in time.

If you are worried about water from the roof going into the run or the coops you can always erect a section of tarp or corrugated plastic/fiberglass roofing along that side tilted back toward the house to help deflect the rain. This would also add some much needed shade from that hot Texas sun.

The good thing is I haven't started construction yet which is why I want to make sure this is the very best spot. The good thing is, since I'm doing the Arks, I could always move them to another spot. I'm not sure where that would be, but I could figure something out if I really had to.
