Hi I have six new chicks living in my living room still (week 3) and I really need to move them outside in a few weeks. I had planned to put them in an unused dog pen I have but now that I'm "getting into it" with the whole chicken thing I want to ideally build a coop that allows easy egg access and maybe even a tractor style so the girls have access to lots of tasty things in my lawn. Does anyone have any links for good, thorough coop plans? There were a few at mypetchicken.com but none exactly what I want. I've seen lots of great pictures here at byc, but they are just ppl posting their customer designed coops. Me and DH are not carpenters but we can follow instructions so if anyone has any sources for idiot proof, detailed plans we could buy I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Depends on the breed you have, myself being in Ohio I got golden coments as they are hardy for our winters and I don't need to provide insulation....What breed is yours??

Thanks all for the replies. I was thinking about the diy website, seems perfect but I was a bit skeptical of the hole infomercial aspect of it. Has anyone bought it and used the plans?
