Hey Cat great job! Love the space usage for a brooder too. Question, it looks like light is coming into the coop where the wallis meet the floor? If so when it brains you will get a semi wet/wet floor. Bedding acts like a wick & will pull it inside via the space.
Thanks for the reply! The floor is a work in progress, and that is a REALLY good point! It has rained a lot recently, but the coop is raised up and so far it isn't coming in from anywhere. We are trying to "feel out" what we want for the floor. Right now it is just hardware cloth.
the only thing you might want to add is some sort of covered portion of the run. we live in the south too, and with all of the rain we've been getting, the run is like a mud pit. we've added some tin roofing on one end, but have decided that we need to put some sort of solid roof on all of it.
I agree with Sandy re: roof being covered, also gives them more shade in summer. I think a bobcat or lg dog whould be able to get thru the run roof wire very easily. Coop looks wonderful. Like the brooder and you may want to leave the floor wire with summer coming up ...unless its right on the ground.
WOW!!! Looks awesome Cat!!! It looks so inviting=) You guys did an AWESOME job!!! Just got my blue wheaten ameraucana eggs today so they are going in the bator soon I have 10 so keep your fingers crossed for me!!! Meanwhile my hub and I have been putting our heads together on coop ideas. I dont think our will be as elaborate as yours we just dont have the space. Anyways, too cool guys!
