Coop question for you Silkie folks...

Good thread. I have one silkie now (baby chick) but hope to have 16 more in 21 days. I've got a good two months before they will go to thier coop. I too am thinking 4 foot tall. Mostly to accomadate me. So I can be able to clean etc easier. I had no idea they prefer to closer to the ground. Thanks! Great info.

You might criss-cross or slant just 1 or 2 branches (love those branches) about 4" off the ground, literally. I truly doubt Silkies are going to go to the trouble of figuring out how to get up any higher than that. Given the choice mine always prefer to huddle into a furry pile at night. You did great on the coop!

My two snuggle together on the floor of their coop. Am going to make a little nest box for Nonnie in a month, since she is only 3 months old. Mine will go down the ramp when I let them out, and Nonnie uses the ramp to go up from time to time. But I have never seen Cynder use the ramp to go into the coop.
