Hello. I'm new to owning chickens, i have my first 12 chicks currently in our basement while we build the coop/run. I am wondering about the height of the roosting poll if I plan on clipping their wings. Would I just put a little board for them to walk up and how high can I put it, the poll, if they will be unable to fly?
Also, my coop has one round vent in the roof, it's about 1.5ftx1.5ft. Is that enough? My coop measures 15ft long x13ft.wide x 15 ft tall. Also, I am starting with 12 chickens but may have up to 20 at one time, is this sufficient space? It's actually a very large chicken coop and I am just sectioning off the back portion of it (about 1/3) for my coop. I will attach the run to this portion as it has a back door on it leading out.
