Hey Chicken Lovers,
Expanding the coop for the new brood. Doubling the size of our previous flock, used to be six hens now have 12 on the way!
Old coop was 4 x 6 = 24 sq. ft.
New coop will be 7 x 6 = 42 sq. ft.
I built the original coop 6 years ago. I was proud of if then and it worked out well for 6 hens but I will make a few improvements based on lessons learned. So, enjoy some pics of the progress...
New piers in and floor installed. Figuring out the roof pitch and framing:
Framing and rafters under way:
Roof complete and the coop is dried-in. Apologies that the run is overgrown. When the last of our hens passed we neglected the area. Miss those girls but really excited about the new brood!
