Coop Roof - What am I missing?

I figure I must be missing something basic here. I'm building a coop with plans I bought online. This is my first attempt at coop building, so I was hoping to buy plans designed for novice builders.

Here's where I'm stuck. I built 8 trusses, 4 of them are attached using hurricane ties per the instructions. The instructions also state that these 4 are the only trusses attached using hurricane ties, which makes sense because the two trusses that attach to the ends of the frame will be flush with the frame. However, it doesn't say how to attach these two trusses. I feel like I'm missing something obvious. Any thoughts on how to attach the end trusses? There will be two more that extend out beyond the frame on each end, but those aren't put in place until after the two end walls are sided.

Ok, that looks like it will work. The instructions does state that you can add 2x4s between the trusses if you want to seal it off, but I didn't think about doing that since I was planning to leave it open and cover it with hardware cloth for ventilation. I still have the space between the middle trusses for that, so hopefully that will be fine. Thanks for the suggestion! Out to work on it some more :)

Success! Thank you! I suspect this is what they intended because it's the only thing that makes sense, I just didn't read it correctly (actually, the instructions weren't clear). I was hoping to get a little further along, but when the wind picked up it made attaching the end trusses a little challenging and wore me out! :th

Thanks again!

No problem! It looks great!

If you were not going to finish the roof and use just wire. I would block between the rafters at the ridge to keep them all spaced right. hurricane brackets wont keep them from swaying some.

And if your putting a roof on the hardwire cloth at the wall and roof would be easier I think to install before the roof. just and idea and we not there yet in the new coop build.

That's an idea...I'm not sure how to attach the 2x4s to the rafters though. I'm not good at putting in screws at an angle and I'd definitely wouldn't be good at it trying to balance on a ladder at the same time! :hmm

Simpson h1 hurricane ties. Very easy to use. Attach the ties to the trusses and the inside walls. Once you screw all the plywood on your coop, you will see how strong it is.
Btw it looks great!!!

This is one sturdy build! This coop will surely weatger a substantual hurricane..... it may just end up in a different time zone if not anchored..... but it will be intact! Great post. Cant wait for the finished photos.
