Coop roof?

We used asphalt shingles also. (And, also several colors as we used what we had from other projects.)

I would caution on using metal if you live in a hot climate. Metal roofs (and dark shingles) hold the sun and make it hotter inside the coop.

very fond of roll roofing, easier by far to do than shingling and has been totally waterproof for us. We used rolled metal flashing for the rooflines as well. Whole roof on a 10 x 8 coop was prob $75 all together and three people roofed it in only three or so hours.

That wavy plastic stuff people like the look of, btw, is not only pricey but splinters on impact if a bough falls on it -- so dont use it if you have trees overhead. And trees overhead are a good thing, of course, for keeping our loved ones cool . . .

We used some rolled aluminum roofing we had laying around for a few years, put it silver side facing up to reflect the HOT Florida sun away. On the nesting box itself we used good old roll roofing (we also had left over from a previous project).
