Coop / Run Advise

We have built two coops so far and are planning on possibly a third for breeding one is a small 4x8 coop that has two feet tall on bottom and a place on top that one is hard to get into and clean but we did use the deep litter method it stays fairly cool for us in the hot summer. Our second coop was 16 x 8 and 7 feet tall it’s amazing we used metal square rods nd welded cattle panels on to the main part the panels have 1x 2 inch openings and it keeps our baby chicks in and every thing else out we also never cleared where we built ours we had we had chuckars and pheasants in a flight pen and the bird net would get ripped open by any coon or opossum that came by so I’d recommend not using bird netting unless it’s wire mesh your chickens will be very happy in that nice coop you’ve got planned 😁

Be sure and add windows to your coop so that you can open them up & let in plenty of air. They will appreciate a breeze blowing over them at night during the summer.

I would think about putting a solid roof over the run instead of netting. It will give them protection from the sun & rain. I had wire over my first run. This one will be covered in tin.
