Coop & Run are almost done! (Pictures)

We cheated and bought the coop. It was stupid-expensive, but DH didn't have enough time to build it before I planned on bringing in my girls. The run on the other hand of course was us - slightly lopsided and all.

Thats a great coop no matter how you got it

So what if its expensive, the birds deserve it. Where did you buy it from? The cost of lumber/supplies has gone up sooooo much, that after you add up the stuff and your time and hard work to have built a coop......i bet it was well worth it to buy it. Your birds are very lucky

True with the coop and contest, but its a pretty sweet shack. Thank you for sharing, its a humdinger of a floor and should help out a lot, avoid the wax, could be slippery when your girls run to fast and wanna stop....hmmm, got a web cam? Could be as fun as ducks on a icey pond!

That'd be a riot to watch the girls skating around!!

I'm going to try the deep litter method so that pretty flooring will be all but a memory until it gets cleaned in the Spring... wishful thinking, but I wonder if I can let it go that long... I'm kind of a clean freak.

Hmm... but the webcam idea is a great one... I'd love to be able to watch the girls during the day while I'm at work. I can make sure that they're not up to no good.

With the pop door at floor level, you'll have shavings falling out, but that's ok. We did the same "mistake" but I still do the deep litter method, and it works fine. I'm a neat freak also, but sure not going out there in the winter to clean! Very nice coop. If you want more chickens, all you have to do is move it to that blue shed and connect the two!!

Very nice!

If it's not too late, I suggest that you separate the coop from the run with a two- by two- by two-foot tunnel. That way, you won't have to go into the run every night and morning to raise and lower the pop door.

Just add a 2" high board in front of the door and the shavings won't fall out. Great looking coop.

That's what we had to do and it works great - the birds seem to like that extra step - in and out - they use it to peruse.

Lovely coop and great run!!

I have the tile squares and yes it is hilarious. I've gone walking in the coop and had a couple chickens not realize i was there and i'd scare the crap out of them. They take off running hard but going no where and shavings flying everywhere.

I had a wireless webcam in my coop last year but it's now in the duck house. Kinda curious as to how they are gonna do in winter. Last year i spent many hours just watching the chickens in the coop. Very relaxing too.
