Congrats! Looks great! My only concern is the chicken wire. If you don't have any predators to worry about, even raccoons, possums, or your own dog (if you have one), then it should be okay. However, you should know about the only thing chicken wire is good for keeping out (or in) is chickens. It's pretty useless against anything else.
Yep! That's very nice. I'm going to go with the previous comment and suggest your husband get a roll of hardware cloth (3 foot width is good) and at the very least run a border along the bottom of the chicken wire you already have for predator protection. Bury 6-8" in the ground and the rest of the width on top of what you already have. Stuff is not cheap, but it well worth it, plus you can't beat the piece of mind knowing your chickens are safe.
Thanks for all the comments.
I have been concerned about raccoons but my husband keeps saying its secure
He and his dad had chickens egg/meat for years.
We used hardware cloth on the coop
The piece of gray you can see at the bottom, is a piece of metal buried 10.5 in.
it will go all the way around.
Also our yard is fenced and I'm retired so I have plenty of time to be keeping
an eye out for predators.
Hope all goes well !!! I really like my little flock !!!
