Coop sand

I had to clean out my coop today. Had to. I've had the flu and let it go too long, and it was getting yucky. We went to Lowes to get more sand, and the playground kind is on sale for $2.50 a bag. Thought I'd pass it along! Have a great holiday weekend!

It is cheaper to get it at a feed store, our feed store delivers it at 60$ for 5 tons

So does sand work really well in a chicken coop? I have been using shavings and they get so nasty and I have to change them often. I have access to all the free sand I could ever want. I just may have to give it a try.
