Chickens require 5 sg.feet per bird in the coop excluding nest boxes and roosts.

In the outdoor run, they should have 10 sg.feet per bird. Crowded chickens end up feather plucking, and at extreme can resort to cannibalism.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
The run is tight for 6. But it's on a whole new level of "better" than the farm store pre-fabs. It would be easy to expand the run in the future though. There will be times when the birds cannot or will not leave their enclosure and that is what you need to size the run to.
Do you have a predator apron around it? If not, install one. Make sure no opening into the coop and run are greater than 1/2" (are the window openings backed with 1/2" hardware cloth?) and that all doors are secured with latches that a toddler couldn't open. Once you do that, you won't have to lock them into the coop at all. The entire enclosure will be predator proof. That is the way my setup is and I never close the door between the coop and run.
