I'm currently building a coop for 9 chickens. 3 easter Eggers, 3 Plymouth rocks 1 cooko marrans, 1 wyodette and 1 polish. The size I'm thinking to build is about 4x 5 and 4 feet tall with the nest boat stick out . I'm not sure if this is enought room especially since I may get more later on. I'm hoping that it will look similar to this one but with a 7

by 8ft run.

Hello and welcome to BYC!
Your planned coop size is too small for the 9 you have let alone an increase in flock size.

I would build something more like an 8x8, which would comfortably accommodate 16-20 chickens depending on how well you build your run. I also highly recommend you build a walk-in style.
You will inevitably need to retrieve a chicken off the roost at night and trying to do that in a small coop that you cannot enter is a royal pain.
Your run should be sized at a BARE MINIMUM of 10 sq ft per bird. So I would build to scale with the coop and shoot for 200 sq feet.
The 7x8 foot run is no where near large enough for 9 birds.
If you build too small, behavior and health problems are not likely... they are inevitable.

x2 to above. Think about what is the MAX number of birds you want, and then build bigger than that. Especially with the run, if you have space/budget for it. Integration will go so much smoother with more space as that allows you to add clutter to break up the space so birds can hide from each other as needed.

X3 to above.

Might depend on your climate....nastier winters need more space.

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!
