Coop size

Short answer... maybe..
4 sqf per bird. 8 birds x 4sq= 32. So you're at the max.

But.. weather, size of run, will effect that. Where are you located? Cold climate you might have issues with the gals bickering over space if it's too cold or nasty to go outside.

Im in southern Idaho. The coop is located in a 30x40 barn and they will free range on an acre of aviary during daylight hours.

I have 8 chicks. I bought a 9'long x 3.5 wide x 4.5' tall coop is this big enough for them to sleep in once full grown?
Does this measurement include an attached run? Chickens need 3-4 sq. ft. of space for each chicken inside their coop. It does not include the run.

It was used for pheasants and chuckar but sits empty now. So we would like to make use of it. The brush may need thinned for chickens?

Maybe...only time will tell....probably, with only 8 chickens.
Might have to mow it a few times a year to keep and saplings down....don't want trees growing the the top netting.

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!
