Hi guys i was just wondering if my coop is big enough for my hens plus my new chicks. The inside coop is 8x10 the outside coop is 10x6. I have 6 heavy breed hens and 3 heavy breed pullets. Will my existing coop accomidate everyone????

Plenty big on the inside, a little small for run space outside.

Inside the coop the general rule of thumb is 4 sq ft per large fowl, so you would have room for 20 in the coop. However, outside run is best at 10 sq ft per large fowl, so you technically have enough space for 6. I think, overall, you'll probably be okay. It's good that the most room is in the coop.

Using the Standard of 4 inside and 10 outside, for 9 birds, you'll need a combined 126 Square feet. The only real difference is you have more room inside. You should be fine.

Chris
