I'm new to raising chickens
we have 10 chicks and 2 ducklings in the brooder right now

I want to build/customize my own coop, my husband was thinking of buying a coop with a run from TSC

I don't need/want a run right now as I stay home and I don't think we need one right now with it being spring in Texas

I read a bit about coops in here and different ideas

I like the idea of repurposing a storage shed

Would 10x8 be okay for what we currently have?
About how many chickens could that comfortably house?

10" x 8" is good size. There are a lot of folks convert shed to coop. Chicken don't need ton off room if they are only sleep in.. unless you want them to stay in the coop. The run is a must if you are concern their safety. You can find various design of the coop on this site. As you may know, duck do need water so they are pretty messy.

yeah, going to build a little pond for the ducks out of a kiddie pool
a run should be fairly easy to construct
but I'll be outside with then most the day
I have small kids at home during the day and will have all mine home during the summer

We have an above ground pool so I HAVE to be out there to supervise
