I first want to say that the advice I got on her about keeping newly bought guineas penned up for at least 4 weeks was spot on. What a difference an additional 2 weeks made, thanks to everyone's advice.

The other thing is, I have 15 acres for them to roam around on and they only stay in a certain area, covering the same couple of acres a day. It's like they don't want to venture far from the coop. The person I bought them from said that maybe the ticks are heavy in that area, which is partly true, being that the ticks are heavy everywhere. Of course they've only been out on a regular schedule for a couple of weeks. Will that change over time, as for roaming out further?

If they don't maybe try again in another spot down the road? I am getting them next month once their coup is up ( going up this month) I am so worried they're going to run away :-/ I guess that's good that they like their coup? This is a nasty year for ticks I can't eat till ours are here. Wish I could be of help... Also maybe they will breed and you'll end up with more that explore more?
