Coop Suggestions???

One thing to think about is space. If you want the coop to take up less space, you might want to build a coop with run space under it, so that it has a smaller footprint. You also probably want a coop that you are able to walk into to do maintenance and stuff. Same with the run. You probably want some shade in the run, for at least part of it. Having a roof will help it get less muddy. Some people like an outdoor egg collection hatch, but others don't. Those are my general things to say on this, but you have too broad of a question to have a specific answer.

I'm a newbie and don't have chickens yet. Still a year or so out from moving to our land. We're planning on having 5 hens so I think we'll need at least a 4'x6' coop, plus we'll have a run. I've been doing some research and found this which is by far my favorite. I think it will need some small modifications but maybe you can use a similar idea.

I prefer that second plan you linked.

The Ana White plan.....the way they have the windows is a bad idea. If you had windows like that and it rained while they are open it would flood the coop. The hinges should be at the top not the bottom.

The Ana White plan would definitely need adjustments, not perfect but a good jumping off point.

I like the second one too but it's way to big for my needs.

Good luck with your coop. Post some pics when it's finished, I'd love to see what you end up with.
