I like these for my mushroom operation, but I'm hanging a set in the coop. They have probes on long wires, and extra outlets are included.

We have a heat/temp one similar to that!

No, your concern is if the humidity gets too HIGH. This can lead to frostbite on combs and wattles. That's why you want good ventilation, so humidity can escape. You don't want moisture forming on your ceiling and dripping down on your chickens.

Ventilation, as opposed to drafts, is good. You want air flow above the hens, not blowing on them. Drafts disturbing their feathers is bad. Feathers can't insulate if they are blown away ftom their bodies.

I have no idea what a pop door is and i don't think we have one.

The pop door is the little chicken-sized opening they go in and out of, as opposed to the people- or human-door.

No clue how it got that name!

To add, the humidity comes from the chickens, from their breath and poop.

The poop part is why we use horse bedding pellets. We have no ventilation, albeit an exhaust fan, and get by with it as there's no open water in the coop (nipple bucket), and the pellets absorb the moisture of the poop, which also eliminates smells. It's average 70% humidity here, and the coop is always lower than it is outside.
