Yes. Most of the yards were not big. I would say the space that most of the coops were in were like 4,000 square feet and even less in some cases. (I am trying to figure this out with the visual of breaking down my own lot in my mind.) Here is a breakdown of each coop pictured:
1) 4 chickens w/about 3,000 sq. ft. to free range.
2) 3 chickens. (We didn't go to that one so I have no idea how big of space they had.
3) 3 chickens. (I can't remember if they allowed them to free range or not but there space was bigger, maybe 4,000 sq. ft?
4) 6 chickens. I believe they said they allow them to free range in the off gardening months. They had about 2,000+sq. ft.
5) 2 chickens. I really have no idea because it seemed like they were more set up to sell coops. The yard was big though. Maybe 5,000 sq.ft?
6) 3 chickens. (We didn't go to this one either.)
7) 2 chickens. (We didn't go to this one either.)
By the look of the coops we saw, I think most people had their coop and run work with the amount of chickens they had. Meaning they didn't count on always being able to free range. I personally use the 4 sq.ft. of indoor coop space and a minimum of 10 sq. ft. of run space for each chicken. (I have the large breed chickens.) I also let them free range in our back yard when I can which is about 4,000 sq. ft. of space.
I bet this was more info than you were looking for. hahaha : ) I tend to go overboard. lol
