So we are building our own coop! Well my husband who’s excellent at building and woodworkingis, I’m managing. (However he has never built a chicken coop)
I keep telling him how important ventilation is and he keeps complaining about how I want too many requirements.
We have plenty of space behind the coop, as there is a small gap that will allow air flow along the back wall, but we need some in the front roofline for cross ventilation. I told him to just put a small gap between the roof line and the frame. Maybe half an inch or less. He says it doesn’t need it ?? But everything g I have read says it does need it.

So question. What would u recommend. Yes vent gap or no and what we have at the back is good enough?

1/2" isn't much, but hard to tell what the plans are from that photo. What is your location/climate like? As a general rule you want a minimum of 10% of floor space or 1 sq ft per chicken in ventilation, but in hot climates more would be better for sure.
