Coop with “wings”

I have a question about your board and batten siding (staggered overlapping boards) along the front: will this be a problem during Louisiana's heavy rains?

I love the look of it and was considering it for an end of the run I want to close off, but I was thinking that I probably ought to use vertical instead.

You know… I’m not totally sure but I think it’ll be fine… we’ll just have to see. It is fence boards and fences usually last a long time soooo…. Now, as far as water soaking through… I guess that could happen in really heavy rains but still should be okay as there are places to get away from the water…
The back side is vertical… the darker, old fence boards….

I think you're right. Fencing board does seem to be tough as nails!
