Books say that temp of coop can be controlled nicely by integrating a "green roof" on the top of the coop. I would love to do this to add appeal to the coop and to grow small plants/flowers at the same time.

I found one website but they want $1,100 + s/h for coop. Any ideas? Seen any plans that include a green roof?

Thank you!

This is the first time I've heard of it but it sounds really neat! Unfortunately, with all the trees we have here, the plants would be covered by leaves in a hurry. Personally, I would never pay more than a $1000 for a coop. Why not just build a coop and then make it a "green roof" yourself?

Be sure to carefully evaluate the load of the green roof versus the standard load rating for traditional construction. Wet soil can be quite heavy.
