We have been battling the off and on rain.. We hoped to get a lot accomplished this past weekend when my hubby had a 4 day weekend off.. Anywho.. he's been taking photos as we go on this.. so I thought I'd start a work in progress thread of what we are doing. I'm chomping at the bit to paint it.. but obviously have to wait for the outside walls to go up.. we are not doing siding but are painting over the ply wood and will add some molding strips and corner molding..etc.. we'll see how that goes!

The coop will be insulated as we can get some really cold days in the winter time.. We are at an altitude of over 7400 feet..

We glued down a sheet of linoleum here and placed the coop where it will go outside..

I'm so glad to see how far you've come so fast... don't worry about rushing, your chicks are still really small yet.

Oh good to hear your collie is good with them. My husband is hoping that our collie Gumbo will do well with them and that we can let them out and he won't kill them!.. Gumbo is 1 years old and a puppy like.. but he has never shown an agressive side. Collies are the only breed of dog I have ever had.. Such sweet dogs they are.. though Gumbo has that naughty puppy thing going on.. he steals.. chews up stuff and jump on people.. Back to school for Gumbo!

You should go ahead and add pics of the little peepers who will be moving into this palace you are building!

I hope you left room for your obsession with chickens to grow!!! You WILL want more honey.

You have made great progress. It looks like good solid construction.

Mine is coming along way too slow. I keep second guessing my decisions. and rethinking everything. and since i am painting everything along the way - it is taking time to get the paint just right.

I can't hardly wait to see yours when its finished.
