we have serious problems with cooper hawks here. if your going to let your silkies free-range, its a good idea to make sure that they can see well. Our pet wild turkeys keep a look out and attack the hawks now if they get to close.

We planted pampas grass all along the fence of our chicken run after several close encounters with small hawks. The girls head for cover often, but thanks to my faithful border collie we have not had a loss. Good luck
