I am Pat and I got my first 13 babies last week. Not my first time raising them but it has been a minute sine I was 15! LOL I got 13 Australorp babies. They are adoreable, I am addicted. I built the coop for them and decorated it. Hoping these girls like it. It is named Chick-Mahal, the big house! LOL I am going to electric fence due to the bear scat I found last week by my house in the woods with my dog. Oh yes there is the red tick coon hound hunting dog that lives here. This is my mental challenge right now, how is she a trained hunter going to accept the chickens? So far she has no real idea they are here, so they are safe. More than likely I will transfer them to the coop at a good age and then she will have to deal with it from a distance in her dog pen. I could go on but thanks to everyone's posts I am doing well as a new Mom.
