Open rafters is also a good idea, but I don't think I see a way for you to incorporate that as far along as you are.

The rafters aren't on yet, so not too late and open eaves are way better than 4" holes.

Agreed- but it works great for my coop. I also have open rafters as well, but the holes are better than nothing... and that's a lot of work for the guy when they are close to done. Better something than nothing.

I think it's less work to take a sawzall to the siding than to drill a bunch of holes. But perceptions vary.

I wasn't sure if he was just going to drop metal on that slope. Open end rafters would be the best, no question. Plus it's a lot easier to wire over them than fill them in!
